日本のデジタルヒューマニティーズとデジタルアーカイブの現状: 人間文化研究機構と国立歴史民俗博物館のリソース紹介とともに
今年度も人間文化研究機構および、国立歴史民俗博物館の新規リソースを紹介するととともに、日本におけるDH、DAの大トレンドについて説明する。人間文化研究機構全体としては、DH推進室を立ち上げたのち、さまざまなDHに関連する活動を行っている。リソースに関する話題は、nihuBridgeにかかるものを中心に展開しているが、本発表では、合わせて関連する多様な活動の情報を提供し、今後の日本におけるデジタル研究資料の動向と傾向について説明を行いたい。また、合わせて、日本におけるデジタルヒューマニティーズとデジタルアーカイブの状況について、報告を行いたい。最近の日本におけるデジタルアーカイブのトレンドとして「3Dデータの活用」が着目されつつある。これまでも考古学データを中心にこれらの利活用が進められてきたが、これらの試みが日本の博物館等においても展開するようになり、一定の蓄積が進み、日本以外でも利用可能なデータになりつつある。このような、データの新たな傾向などを踏まえつつ、広く2024年における日本のデジタルヒューマニティーズ・デジタルアーカイブの状況について報告を行いたい。
Digital Humanities and "Digital Archive" in Japan: 2024 Trends
This presentation will introduce new resources from the National Institutes for the Humanities and the National Museum of Japanese History and explain the major trends in Digital Humanities (DH) and Digital Archives (DA) in Japan. Following the establishment of the DH Promotion Office, the National Institutes for the Humanities has been actively engaged in various DH-related activities. Although the discussion on resources will primarily focus on nihuBridge, this presentation will also provide comprehensive information on diverse related activities and outline the trends and future directions of digital research materials in Japan.
Additionally, the presentation will include a report on the current state of DH and DA in Japan. A notable recent trend in Japan's digital archives is the increasing utilization of 3D data. While the use of 3D data has advanced mainly in archaeological contexts, these efforts are now being extended to museums across Japan, resulting in a significant accumulation of data that is becoming accessible internationally.
By examining these new data trends, this presentation aims to provide a broad overview of the state of digital humanities and digital archives in Japan as of 2024.
